JCVD
Jean-Claude Van Damme has suffered the worse career nose dive of any of the 80s action heroes, and that seems fair enough, Schwarzenegger at least had The Terminator and Predator, Stallone at least had Rocky and Rambo, Willis at least had Die Hard, Van Damme never really had a classic action film and never proved that at least he was good for something, but now the realization comes that he might have suffered from bad luck and overcrowding as JCVD proves that he can act, not that he is a great actor but that he can certainly show more depth than Stallone or Schwarzenegger, and better yet he demonstrates that he can bare himself on screen in a way most won’t, for those that don’t know the film follows washed up action star Jean Claude Van Damme, the character being largely autobiographical, and the circumstances he finds himself in are fictional, I was lucky enough to catch this on the big screen at the fantastic Prince Charles Cinema, it might be harder to find elsewhere but do seek it out at festivals and in straight-to-DVD releases.
