Man On Wire

Without a doubt this is one of the best documentaries I have seen lately, it deserves all the praise that has been going its way, a testament to this - I was still able to see it on the big screen in London despite it being released August, it details the wire walk Philippe Petit between the two towers of the World Trade Center in 1974, a film that perfectly captures the twin towers as a symbol of the human spirit and the creativity they inspired rather than what they became in 2001, perhaps the most striking moment of the film comes in a photograph of what looks like it should be Ground Zero from the attacks, instead with the series of photos that follow we realise that it is the beginng of the buildings construction, though the film never references those events directly, instead it keeps the focus on the events and builds a level of tension in the interviews and some heist reenactments of the break in to the buildings.
