Hansel & Gretel (2007)`

There have been few times that I walked out of a movie, Spy Hard was one, Date Movie was another, though those two were asking for trouble anyway, now throughout Pil-Sung Yim's Hansel & Gretel I had the deep urge to get up and leave the cinema, but I couldn't think of any place to go as I had only come to the cinema to kill time, so I stayed throughout the film and it was most painful, I was surprised that I hated it so, films from South Korea that have been released in Western cinemas have been of high quality, the distributors probably have hard enough time finding audiences that you think they would release only the most appealing, but Hansel & Gretel is clunky and labours over a fairly simple point for the majority of the running time, don't be fooled by the title either, the film isn't a retelling of the classic tale, rather the tale happens to be the favourite story of the kids in the movie, while it shows moments of imagination in the fantastical sequences, the narrative leaves a lot to be desired.
